Breeze

The wind blew gently across him, ruffling his hair ever so slightly. It was a nice comfortable breeze, light and gently caressing. It reminded him of her touch. So light and sensual. He missed her so.

He watched the clouds roll in from the ocean. Another storm was brewing. For him, that seemed about right. It seemed to fit the storm within his heart. It was always appropriate when the weather matched his inner turmoil. He let the wind flow over him.

The breeze was so like her, the gentle caress of a lover, he missed her touch. He missed her smell, he missed her smile, her laugh. There wasn't much he didn't miss about her. He wished that life could be different, but it was what it was.

He didn't want to be here without her, but that was just the way the world worked. He would have loved to be sitting on this beach with her, holding her hand, watching the waves crash, feeling the breeze on their skin. But she had made her decision, and it didn't leave any room for him. Sometimes, that was just the way life worked. You couldn't have everything you wanted.

Lightning flashed in the distance, the storm was getting closer. The storm was already raging inside of him. The memories of the times they spent together tormenting him. He did miss her so. He sighed deeply. No amount of wishing could change the facts. He just had to be patient. If they were to have any chance together, he had to be patient and wait. He loved her so much that there really wasn't any other option.

The waves had picked up the intensity of the storm rolling, causing him to abandon his seat at the water's edge. Dusting the sand off of himself, he stood and looked to the heavens. He couldn't believe that God would bring such a fantastic person into his life, only to keep them apart. But then, who really understood the motives of God? Surely not him.

Glancing once more at the storm, he turned to go back to his room. Maybe he could sleep tonight. Maybe the memories would allow him some rest.

He looked back towards the sky.

"One day, chere, one day we will be together."
