He looked down at his tickets. This was real. This was happening. Right now. Today. This was life, and it was happening now. No more waiting, life was here.
Somehow, this wasn't what he was expecting. He wasn't sure exactly what he had expected, but this surely wasn't it. Surely not. Or was it. He no longer what to expect. Everything he had once thought were true, have been proven false. And everything he had once found false, well some of those had proven to be true. His world had been turned on end.
The sound of the train approaching the station brought him from his reprieve. He looked at the clock. It was too early to be his. He had plenty of time. He looked at all the people gathering their things, preparing to embark upon the train. "Where were they going?" he wondered, "Were they going home to their families? To loved ones who missed them? Or did they go home to a silent house?"
He looked back to the tickets in his hand. His escape. He didn't want to go, but he was left with no choice. He had to leave. It was the only way. He had tried so many other options, nothing worked. The only thing left was to walk away and wait. Wait for her call. He had to trust in her love for him. If it wasn't strong enough, he would never see her again. But that was all that was left to him. Time.
He never imagined that he would have connected with her so deeply. Who could have ever thought that she would have been so perfect? Saying the right thing at the right time, just being herself. But by being herself, she was everything he could have ever asked for. Fantastic. And now he had to walk away from it all.
He watched the last people board the train. It wouldn't be much longer and he would join those masses, saying goodbye to that which he knew. A couple was having a tearful goodbye. He was leaving, and she was staying. She didn't want him to go, and he didn't want to leave, but life was pulling them apart. Sometimes life was just a bastard like that. He understood oh so well."All Aboard!!!" came the call from the conductor. The train pulled away from the station. He wondered what life would be like if he just jumped on that train headed wherever it was going. Would he be able to start a new life? Would he be able to forget her? Would he be able to re-invent himself? Would she even know he had left?

He looked at his ticket again. All he had to do was board that train, and he would be gone forever.
He just looked at his ticket.
